I am now officially a Reformed 5 point Calvinist.

I have always swung more conservative than my home church and thought it was just my Afrikaner Blood. Yet, as I studied the Scriptures more thoroughly, the experiential and cherry-picked ideas of my Christian youth have been washed away in a tsunami of inarguable biblical evidence to the contrary.

It has been a three-year-long gear shift; I wanted to be careful on every point. The understanding of reformed theology (as inept as it still is) has been almost 20 years in the making, however. I just had to realize that pastoral authority should not precede scriptural authority.

I want to thank all my charismatic friends and, yes, brothers and fathers in Christ. Living Rivers and His Church were filled with believers who both inspired and educated me with their example of godly dedication and their commitment to Christian Unity.

I still consider you family, and I will never stop considering you thus.

However, I just cannot in good conscience call myself charismatic anymore. My reasons are Theological in nature, that is beyond dispute. And though it is a decision of great import, there is no hint of regret. In fact, the change comes as a relief in the light of the social conformity, heresy, and apostasy that has plagued the leading groups of the Charismatic and Pentecostal movement.

I am more than happy to distance myself from Bethel, Hillsong, the prosperity gospel, name it and clame it theology and everything to do with the NAR.

It has been an adventure, and now I am ready for the next exciting chapter of my life with our Lord Jesus Christ.

God bless you all.
